The Drop Head Coupe
Rates: £100 per night including breakfast
Historically this style of motor car was always something special and exotic. It was therefore decided to design, build and furnish this room with a taste of the days from the Raj of India. Drapes which were sourced from India add to the whole rich ambiance of this stunning room. The golden bathroom with its wet room shower, twin basins and under floor heating will ensure all guests feel equally pampered.

Dedicated to the Morgan Aero 8 sportscar with its modern contemporary feel, this room is a departure from the early period styles of the other rooms in the PitStop. The Art Deco style was an architectural and decorative arts style which was popular from 1910 to 1939, characterised by highly stylised natural and geometric forms, which were usually strongly symmetrical. With this in mind, it was decided to design, build/furnish our final bedroom and bathroom in this very pleasing but striking period. This room has twin beds with guests being able to enjoy and observe the original restored lighting, pictures and other fittings which were used in its makeup.

The Diner
Is an interesting and exciting large kitchen designed by our good friend Ron Garner in the USA. We wanted to capture the American style diner and mix it with the British style cafes found in the 1950 /1960’s. One of the most famous is the Ace cafe on the North Circular Road, N.W. London (www.ace-cafe-london.com) which is enjoying a great revival. The kitchen’s three windows overlooking the Morgan Square courtyard were saved when the original 1905 built Morgan factory building was demolished in 2004. The Morgan Company had vacated these premises and moved down to the new Pickersleigh Road premises in 1924. The windows were completely taken apart and restored to their former glory, being more a labour of love than being a viable proposition. Original Morgan Company steel lampshades saved from their old stores and refinished in Morgan corsa red compliment the racy theme. The chairs and bar stools were imported from the USA, whilst the large table and bench seating were made in-house. For added fun, we have an original 1960’s pin ball machine to play on and a Jennings ‘one armed bandit’ in this room
